Payments

Payments for 14-week (15-weeks or 30-weeks for group lessons, 10-weeks for baby/toddler/preschoolers) sessions must be made in full, at least one week in advance of the first lesson of each semester. Payments can be made by mail or in person.

Payments for all the sessions are due by the date stated on the academic calendar.

If the student fails to register and pay by the appropriate date, her/his lesson time will be given away.

It is the student's responsibility to verify the correct amount of payment and to keep track of their payment times.

Payment Plan

Payment Plan Option (For Private Lessons Full 14-week Session Only):

If you choose to pay tuition in two instalments, submit the following:

  1. A check made out for half of the tuition + registration fee + $10 payment plan fee
  2. A check made out for the second half of the tuition dated the 1st of the following month except for Fall enrollment.
  3. Print out registration form #6 online
    (If office recommended any other forms - include them with your payment)
  4. Send completed forms and payment to:

    (***The location of the classes might be different. Check with the Office)

***For the Fall enrollment please date the check for September 1st

We must receive both checks in order to complete registration and hold the spot. All payments are due at time of registration, please refer to the chart below for appropriate payment amounts.

If the student chooses to withdraw within the trial period of first three (3) lessons, the unused post-dated check will be returned to the student along with the rest of the prorated refund.

After three (3) lessons the student is financially responsible for all lessons through the end of the session and the check for the second part of the tuition will be cashed.

Refunds

Private Instruction
For new students only: Pro-rated refunds for private lessons may be requested only within the first three lessons of the trial period. Failure to attend lessons after the third lesson of the trial period without notification does not release students from the obligation to pay for the semester.
There are no refunds for lessons booked through priority registration.
For continuing students: There are no refunds for paid sessions. Once you have paid, your spot is booked and can not be refunded.
Registration fees are non-refundable.

Group classes, workshops, ensembles: NO refunds.
Once you have paid, your spot is booked and can not be refunded.
If a class or summer program is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, full tuition and registration fee (if applicable) will be refunded.

Delinquent Accounts and Returned Checks

Accounts with outstanding balances of over 10 working days will be charged a late payment fee of $25. Delinquent accounts referred for collection will be liable for all collection fees and costs. NMA reserves the right to stop a student's instructional activities if there is an unpaid account balance.

The office will notify you if your check is returned for any reason (e.g., insufficient funds, stop payment, or account closed). You must pay in cash or with certified funds the original check amount plus a $25 returned check charge.

Absences and Cancellations

  • Regular attendance is expected. Make-up lessons can not be guaranteed if the absence is caused by the student, and will be contingent on available space in the teacher’s schedule.

  • All Cancellations are to be emailed directly to your teacher.Make sure to ask the office for the teacher’s email address if you do not have it.When cancelling on the day of the lesson, you need to contact the office at 617-630-0952 so that we can contact your teacher immediately to make sure your teacher received cancellation on time.

  • One non-holiday make-up lesson is permitted per 14-week session and has to be reported no later then 10:00am on the day of the lesson. For lessons scheduled before 3pm, cancellation must be reported by 7pm the night before. Additional make-up lessons can be given at the teacher’s discretion only and are not guaranteed.

  • Make-up has to be completed within the same session during which the lesson was missed. Make-up will not be carried over into the next session. It is students’ responsibility to contact their teacher as early as possible about scheduling their make-up within the same session.

  • No make-up lesson will be given unless an email or a phone call to the School office is received no later than 10:00 am on the day of the lesson (by 7pm for morning lessons).Only one non-holiday cancellation is permitted per session.

  • Private lessons missed during NMA holiday/vacations dates listed in our Academic Calendar will be made up or the payment will be carried over to the next session if the cancellation was reported no later than 7 days in advance of the 1st day of vacation. Cancellation has to be reported by e-mail or by putting a written note into the mail-box for payments in the waiting area. Verbal notice will not be accepted.

  • ***Important Note: If the student did not cancel the class during NMA vacation/holiday, and he/she gets sick unexpectedly and has to cancel the class, this class will not be credited or made up. The teacher makes his/her own holiday plans in advance based on the number of students attending that day. If you prefer not to take a risk of losing a credit in case your child has to miss the class due to any unexpected reason, you can choose to cancel the holiday in advance (at least 7 days before the 1st day of the holiday)

  • The student has the option to cancel ALL the NMA holidays (within that session only) at the time of registration. To cancel ALL the NMA holidays, write on the bottom of the registration form any NMA holidays that you are deducting, or just write "cancel ALL NMA holiday lessons". You can also email it to us.
  • Payment for holidays will NOT be carried over and no make-up lesson will be given if the School office does not receive an e-mail or a written note 7 days in advance of the 1st day vacation.

  • No absences will be made up for students who register for less than a 14-week session.

  • Group classes, workshops, ensemble absences: NO make-ups

  • Snow day make-ups:ONE snow day per student, per semester will be made up. If a class or ensemble is missed due to a snow day, one make-up class or ensemble will be offered. Please note that snow days occur only when the school closes due to inclement weather.
  • Whenever your teacher is not available to teach, a substitute teacher will be called in without notice. Please notify the office if you prefer to cancel the lesson instead and receive a credit whenever your teacher is not available.

Snow Policy

In case of snow or emergency, cancellations will be announced on Newton Music Academy's website: www.NewtonMusicAcademy.com

Newton Music Academy does not call individual students about snow days.

MONDAY-FRIDAY:
For Private Lessons: Please check our website to see if your private teacher has cancelled the class. To see if your teacher has cancelled due to snow or other emergency, please check the home page of our website where it will be posted.

For Group Classes: NMA will follow Newton Public Schools cancellations for group classes during inclement weather. If the public schools are open, group classes will go as scheduled. Cancellations will be posted on our website. Students may also call 617-630-0952 to check on weather-related closings, or check online at www.newton.k12.ma.us/

SATURDAY-SUNDAY and after the office has closed: Please check our website to see if your teacher has cancelled the class.

MAKE-UP:
Only ONE snow day will be made up per session.

For Group Classes: One make-up class will be added at the end of the session.

For Private Lessons: One snow day per student, per session will be made up at the end of the school year. To schedule a make-up, please email or speak with the teacher directly.

Newton Music Academy may photograph/videotape students, classes or events for publications for publicity purposes and to illustrate Newton Music Academy programs. These images will not be distributed, sold, or used beyond Newton Music Academy's promotional activities.
