Our mission is to build positive self-esteem and confidence through developing Creativity, Technical and Performing skills in our students.
Dance Classes in our Needham Studio include:
Creative Movement for Preschoolers,
Ballet,
Hip Hop,
Class for Boys,
Tap
and
Combo Classes for boys and girls ages 3 – 17.
What is different about our dance classes?
- No expensive costume fees. Simple costumes for the shows can be made by students. Children have fun using their own ideas.
- No excessive focus on a year-end recital with the same routines week after week.
- Focus on educational progress. Minimal distraction on show preparation.
- Small classes sizes with lots of individual attention.
- We use stories to build the routines. We use images to encourage expressive movement.
- Promoting health and fitness and a great self-image. We discourage obsession with a low body weight. Children look up to their dance teachers as mentors and we take that very seriously.
- Discourage any competitiveness. Students learn to be proud of their own, individual accomplishments. We never judge or compare students' abilities to each other.
- Focus on developing discipline, coordination, memory, flexibility, grace and stamina. Students will learn a better sense of control and coordination over their bodies, and learn to express themselves through the language of creative movement.
Our dance faculty works in close collaboration with our music department. Some of our common goals are to improve sense of rhythm and to teach appreciation and interpretation of music through the physical motion, sharpening listening skill of our students and more.
